Florence Could Knock Out Power to Up to 3 Million and It Could Be Out for Weeks

Between 1 and 3 million South and North Carolina customers could lose power as a result of Hurricane Florence and it could take weeks to restore, Duke Energy says.

“We anticipate Hurricane Florence to be a historic storm that will impact all customers,” said Duke spokesperson Grace Rountree, Reuters reported.

The Charlotte, North Carolina-based company is the largest provider of electricity in the Carolinas, serving more than 4 million customers in the two states, according to a press release.
